How to Use the Cushion Brush
1.Pre-detangle if hair is wet or highly knotted: Preparation.
While this brush does have detangling teeth, cushion brushes with dense synthetic bristles work best on hair that isn't heavily tangled. If your hair is soaking wet or very knotted, use a wide-tooth comb or a dedicated detangling brush first to prevent pulling.
2.Section your hair: 1-2 minutes.
Divide your hair into manageable sections (at least a top and bottom half, or four quadrants if you have thick hair). This ensures the brush can actually reach your scalp and evenly distribute oils.
3.Brush from ends to roots: Smoothing technique.
Always start brushing a few inches from your ends, working out any minor tangles. Slowly move your way up the hair shaft until you can smoothly brush from the scalp all the way down to the tips.
4.Stimulate the scalp and distribute oils: Finishing technique.
Once detangled, press the flexible cushion gently against your scalp and brush all the way through to the ends. The synthetic bristles will grab the natural sebum (oil) at your roots and track it down the dry ends, acting as a natural conditioner and adding a high-shine finish.
Pro-Tips for Best Results
• Perfect for Blowout Finishing: Use this brush at the very end of your blowout. After rough-drying or using a round brush, a few passes with the cushion brush will smooth down any remaining flyaways and seal the cuticle.
• Dry Use is Best: While it can handle damp hair, this specific brush truly shines on dry hair to refresh a style, create slicked-back ponytails, or brush out iron curls into soft, Hollywood waves.
• Cleaning Maintenance: Because the dense synthetic bristles trap dust, product buildup, and loose hairs, make sure to clean it regularly. Use a comb to rake out trapped hair, and wash the bristles occasionally with warm water and a drop of shampoo, letting it air-dry face down so water doesn't trap inside the rubber cushion.
